9x Top Restaurants In Canggu Bali
I have visited Canggu twice now, once in 2022 and once in 2024. I was so crazy to see how many restaurants have opened up in these two years. It was also interesting to see which restaurants are still there and thriving. In this list I share my favourite restaurants in Canggu.
Shelter
Shelter had already opened in 2022 and it is fun to see how Shelter is still the same, but the street on which the restaurant in located, has completely transformed. The restaurant has semi-indoor (covered) and outdoor seating where you have the opportunity to surround yourself with greenery. The food is inspired by the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine, which I love! My favourite dish is the roasted eggplant. I just love a well thought out flavourful vegetable dish. You can go here for lunch and dinner. I think dinner is the better option as the venue has completely transformed in a fairytale location at night due to the decoration and lighting in the garden.

WOODS
We’re staying in the fairytale vibe with this restaurant, WOODS. Entering WOODS feels like entering an adult size treehouse. I love it! The best thing the entire venue is made of reclaimed woods and build with nature in mind. The restaurant has a Mediterranean menu and offers a lot of vegetarian or vegan options besides meat or fish dishes. If you are planning a visit, make sure to make a reservation on Tuesday or Friday to enjoy their live jazz or vinyl nights.
Ulekan
If you like to eat at a place where you can try the authentic Indonesian kitchen in a nice atmosphere, you should definitely visit Ulekan. There eye for detail is incorporated in the interior as it is brought back in the food. All the dishes we ordered had such rich flavours and they can make it as spicy as you like. For me that means only a little spice 😉 I would recommend going on a Wednesday or Friday evening as they have live music.
Sensorium
This place is just delicious. The cuisine at Sensorium is different from anything else I ate on the island. The chef and owner William Salim used the words “modern Australian brunch with an Asian twist“. If it is not on your food bucket list for Canggu yet, put it on there! The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch but closes around 5pm, so make sure to get there before.
Mason
Mason is a restaurant that was also in Canggu in 2022. I remember there was a line in front of the restaurant when we arrived but luckily we had a reservation. And to this day, it is still very popular! This Mediterranean-inspired restaurant makes all its dishes itself. We noticed our favourite dishes in 2022 were still on the menu but the chef also a couple new dishes which we had to try out. The dish that surprised me most was the cabbage. I thought ‘how tasteful can cabbage really be’, but wow this was good!
If you are ready for some shopping but don’t know where to go, check out my recommendations for ‘My favourite places to shop‘.
La Brisa
Make sure to make a reservation a couple days before the date you wish to go as the spots fill up quick. Keep in mind that you can only make a reservation for a daybed of chair for the entire day with a minimum spend (the amount differs depending on the spot). They also have a fare amount of seating for walk-ins but especially on weekend days this also fills up quickly. The best time to visit is a couple hours before sunset. Watching the sunset from La Brisa is just magical. Don’t expect to much form the food, it was fine, but the view makes up for it!
Yuki
During the day Yuki restaurant looks nice but in the evening this modern Japanese restaurant is just mesmerizing. It is really close to the beach so it’s the perfect way to finish a day by the sea and enjoy some delicious sushi. Make sure to make a reservation as it can get busy. They have several nights with live music, just check out their Instagram when to go for a live musical performance.
Luma
This restaurant is a go to spot if you love fish! The restaurant has a Mediterranean cuisine combining the best of Europe with influences from Bali and the surrounding islands. It focusses on seasonal and local ingredients. The food was delicious but I was completely swapped away by the interior. The restaurant from the outside is beautiful but the interior of Luma I wanted to copy paste to my own home. They have live music every Thursday.
Lulu Bistrot
And last but definitely not least is Lulu Bistrot. A restaurant which takes you to Paris for a night. The menu has so much good things to chose from, my favourites were the chickpea pancake with goat cheese, roasted layered potatoes, half roaster organic chicken. The ingredients are local and they source the best produce. I like!
These were my 9 favourite restaurants at the moment, but I will update them as soon as I am back in Canggu. And I will be back 🙂 If you wish to read more about this lovely city, check out my favourite shops or things to do on a rainy day articles.
